Stop and smell the roses

The average wedding costs something like $70 to $80 a minute. These numbers, though daunting, are worth it according to couples … as long as you stop and smell the roses. In other words, live in the moment. Savor every minute of your wedding day. Revel in your wonderful guests.

Singer/songwriter Mac Davis wrote a hit song back in 1974 called, “Stop and Smell the Roses,” and its advice applies to couples on their wedding days:

You got to stop and smell the roses,

You’ve got to count your many blessings everyday.

You’re gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road,

If you don’t stop and smell the roses along the way.

The Knot interviewed couples a few years back on their wedding day regrets.  One woman echoed the Mac Davis song when she advised couples:

“Relax and enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast … it’s a huge deal, and you won’t have a chance to celebrate like this again.”

Another bride realized that you don’t remember the little details all that well, and encouraged couples to drink in their guests:

“Just take in the fact that there are so many people who would probably never cross paths there to celebrate your love. That’s a pretty special thing.”
