How to wrap up a wedding toast with flair
This blog has explored at length techniques for giving a memorable wedding toast with flair. You’ve read on these pages to keep it concise, just a few minutes in length. You’ve read that if you make ‘em laugh and cry, you’ve done your job.
But we haven’t really provided you with zinger closing lines other than the standard,
“Will you raise your glass and join me in toasting our newlyweds, John and Mary!”
Nothing wrong with that, especially if you’ve done your job and made your audience laugh and cry in the preceding two to thee minutes.
BUT … there are other creative techniques you can use to wrap up your wedding toast with flair, as presented by a United Kingdom website, Hitched.
In the video above, the ladies from Hitched offered five great ideas, which we’ve transcribed for you:
“Here’s to the past for all that you’ve learned. Here’s to the present and all that you’ve shared. And here’s to the future and all you’ve got to look forward to.”
“Now I ask you to have your glasses charged one more time, and for those of you and those who still can, stand and join me in a toast to the newlyweds.”
“May all sweethearts become married couples, and may all married couples remain sweethearts.”
“May your for better or worse, always be better than worse.”
“May your love be modern enough to survive the times, and old-fashioned enough to last forever.”
Now let’s put it together with a corny little toast we presented in a previous blogpost and see how it sounds:
“I just saw a very modern couple get married. Interestingly, both were nuclear technicians. The bride was radiant and the groom was glowing.
I know, very corny! And yet, [bride’s name], you truly are radiant today. And as for my friend, [groom’s name], we don’t typically use the word “glowing” to describe a groom. But I’ve noticed something about him. Every time your name comes up, his eyes light up. Every time you walk into the room, his eyes light up. Yes, it’s safe to say you’re glowing today, [groom’s name].
Now I ask you to have your glasses charged one more time, and for those of you who still can, stand and join me in a toast to the newlyweds.
May your love be modern enough to survive the times, and old-fashioned enough to last forever.”
Nice way to close a wedding toast with flair!
