How to make an amazing wedding even better

amazing wedding

A woman attended an amazing wedding, except for one thing: the wedding toasts were terrible.

Writing on a Reddit wedding thread, she described the first thing that went wrong:

“The groom forgot to tell his father that the father will be speaking at the reception until last minute so the father didn’t have anything prepared, he shared a couple of words and was visibly embarrassed but still cute.”

So to ensure your wedding is amazing, let your toasters know well in advance that you want them to speak. Give them plenty of time to plan a nice, concise toast. As Mark Twain famously quipped,

“If you want me to give you a two-hour presentation, I am ready today. If you want only a five-minute speech, it will take me two weeks to prepare.”

The woman writing on Reddit said things got worse from there when the best man got up. He made an immediate dig at the father. He started by saying “unlike you I am prepared,” proceeds to laugh, then continues,

“I actually have a pretty good speech, at least I think so.”

He didn’t.

“He goes on to mention a story when him and we groom were little, talked about the groom for 30 seconds and then his entire speech is about himself. He mentions his wife, his daughter, his father-in-law, everything was about the best man.”

He finally brought it to a close with this line:

“If the groom is anything like me, he chooses them right.”

Bad form, sir.

Great toasts make an amazing Fayetteville wedding even better. Select your toasters carefully. Remind them that the toast is about the couple getting married, not the toaster. Remind them to keep it brief. Two to three minutes is just fine. Encourage them to script it and practice it until they don’t need the script.
